By Julie Freeman 477-6959 • engadinenews@sbcglobal.net

Welcome spring! The weather couldn't be better as we go into the first days of spring, with 50-degree temperatures, along with the beautiful blue sky and sunshine.

Members of the Tahquamenon Area Schools Key Club are collecting beverage can tabs as a fundraiser for charity. Each year, the can tabs are taken to the annual Key Club conference as a statewide competition to determine which Key Club collected the most weight in tabs. If you have can tabs and would be willing to contribute, please drop them off before Friday, March 20, at the offices of Paul Bush, certified public accountant, at 123 East Truman Boulevard in Newberry.

Spring break for Engadine Consolidated Schools students will be from Monday, March 30, until Monday, April 6.

A benefit for Craig and Cathy Nedeau will be Saturday, March 21, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center in Manistique. Mr. Nedeau had an accident with a chain saw, and the family has no health insurance. They incurred high medical expenses. Everyone is welcome to attend the spaghetti dinner, with 50/50 drawings, auctions, and a cake sale. If you are unable to attend and would like to donate, contributions may be sent to: Craig and Cathy Nedeau and Family, 1127 North Kelly Road, Gulliver, Michigan 49840.

Tommy Johnson Tommy Johnson Condolences to our daughterin law in the passing of her grandfather, and to the family of Osker Price of Newberry, who passed away Friday morning, March 13, at his residence. His mother said Tommy was terribly excited about the big fish he caught, and he was so proud, as were Tommy's grandpa and uncle Jeff Keller of Gould City.
