(Photograph by Dan Fenlon) The Brevort Township and City of St. Ignace Fire Departments responded to a fire on West Brevort Lake Road Saturday afternoon, March 14, about 1:15 p.m. It took the two fire departments more than two hours to extinguish the blaze. Water was pumped from nearby Brevort Lake.
No one was injured in the fire, which left the house in unsalvageable condition, said Brevort Township Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Peterson. The summer home, located at 2833 West Brevort Lake Road, is owned by Derek Pauck of Shelby Township.
Mr. Pauck was visiting the home with a friend when a fire burning inside a wood stove used for heat got out of control, Mr. Peterson said.
