Owing to a high occurrence of Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) among military veterans, any veteran with ALS, or the unmarried widow or widower of a veteran who died of ALS, can file a claim for benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the department has announced.
