Students Enjoy Story Time With Senator

"Study math, study science, and do a lot of reading," State Senator Jason Allen said to students in first grade classes at St. Ignace Elementary School. As part of reading month, Mr. Allen visited the classes Friday, March 27, to read the book "Gitchi Gumee" by Michigan author Anne Margaret Lewis. The book was then donated to the school library. St. Ignace first grade students give two thumbs up to story time with State Senator Jason Allen. They also were able to ask the legislator questions about his travels, wondering if he had ever been to Detroit, New York, or around the world. He told the children he had been to Detroit and New York, but not around the world. They asked about his first job, which he explained was harvesting cherries when he was 16 years old.
