Cameron Wagner

Cameron Wagner Cameron Wagner Cameron B. Wagner of Contoocook, New Hampshire, was a longtime summer resident of Boot Island in the Les Cheneaux Islands. She made her first visit to the Snows in 1943 with her beloved husband, Hugh Wagner, and enjoyed her last visit in 2008. She was a faithful "morning dipper," and liked to complete an annual swim from Boot to Coryell Island. Mrs. Wagner was 87 when she died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Pleasant View Care Center in Concord, New Hampshire.

She was born January 23, 1922, in Pensacola, Florida, the daughter of Robert and Evelyn (nee Maxwell) Biggers.

She was a graduate of Baldwin High School in Birmingham, Michigan. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, where she served as President of the College Government Association and later was President of the Alumni Association.

Mrs. Wagner believed in the importance of giving to the communities in which she lived, and she volunteered in many school, community, and church-related activities throughout her life. Her love for the arts included watercolor painting, drawing, and volunteering at museums in Providence, Rhode Island, Toledo, Ohio, and Manchester, New Hampshire.

She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Koteskey of Danville, California; a daughter, Judith Howe of Nottingham, New Hampshire; four sons, Bill Wagner of Astoria, Oregon, Rick Wagner of Concord, Peter Wagner of Portland, Oregon, and Chuck Wagner of Dexter; 14 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Hugh Wagner, in 2007; a brother, William Biggers, and a stepsister, Peggy Clausen.

A memorial celebrating her life will be held in New Hampshire Saturday, April 18.
