Amanda Coveyou, Nicole Elmblad Share Conference

MVP Honors

St. Ignace Saints senior Amanda Coveyou and sophomore Nicole Elmblad were selected Most Valuable Players in the Straits Area Conference by conference coaches Sunday, March 8.

Named to the first team were junior Emily Jeffreys of Rudyard, seniors Jordyn Pierce and Preston Brown of Sault Ste. Marie, senior Courtney Hancock of Cheboygan, and senior Colleen Hoy and junior Caryn Ducsay of Newberry.

Second team honors went to senior Marcie Rickley and junior Samantha Radecki of St. Ignace, junior Leah Wallis of Rudyard, senior Alica DuVall and junior Katie Fitzpatrick of Sault Ste. Marie, and senior Niki LaFrinere of Cheboygan.

Area honorable mention includes juniors Chelsea Swope and Kristen Olsen of St. Ignace and senior Erin Jarvie of Rudyard.

Rudyard's Arik Hesselink

Selected Boys Conference MVP

Junior Arik Hesselink of Rudyard was selected by the Straits Area Conference coaches as this season's Most Valuable Player Sunday, March 8.

Named to the first team were junior Gerrit Mortensen of St. Ignace, senior Chastin McKelvie of Rudyard, and juniors Trevor Closs, Jordan Spohn, and Nick Hancock of Cheboygan.

Second team honors went to seniors Anthony Lester and Tyler Mapes and sophomore Austin St. Louis of St. Ignace, juniors Scott Coffey and Drew Otten of Rudyard, and junior David Deuman of Sault Ste. Marie.

Area players receiving honorable mention were junior Davin Salo of Rudyard, senior Kyle Beaumont and freshmen Steve Angeli of Sault Ste. Marie, and senior Derek Drake of Newberry.

Trojans' Paquin, Duncan

EUPC Players of the Year

Seniors C.J. Paquin and Jessica Duncan of Cedarville were selected by the coaches of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference as this season's Players of the Year.

Joining Paquin on the first team were Taylor Smith of Cedarville, Mckinley Portice and Mickael Cantin of Pickford, Tyler Anderson of DeTour, and Jereme Daniels of Brimley.

Duncan's teammates, Billie McLeod and Ashley Sweeney, were selected to the first team, along with Lauren MacArthur of Engadine, Callie Smith of Pickford, and Jessica Graham of Brimley.

The boys second team included Luke Murray and Andrew Jaroche of Cedarville, Josh Wilson of DeTour, Devon Derusha of Engadine, and Corie Quinn of Brimley.

Phillip Hood of Engadine received honorable mention.

The girls second team included Shannon Browning of Engadine, Nicole Melcer of DeTour, Jazmine Ledy of Pickford, and Jenna Somes and Kelly Graham of Brimley.

Receiving honorable mention were Jillian Collins of Cedarville, Megan Arbic of Pickford, Kiah Barbeaux and Darci Wilson of DeTour, and Brenda Albrecht of Engadine.
