Home Show Grows Into Spring Expo
Displays are planned inside and outside Little Bear East Arena for the St. Ignace Home Show and Spring Expo set for this weekend. This is the seventh year for the two-day event.
The expo begins Friday, April 17, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The doors open Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m. with the show ending at 6 p.m. Admission is $3 per person, with children age 12 and younger admitted free.
Those registering at the door will have a chance to win an outdoor barbecue grill and other prizes will be given away throughout the day.
LaSalle High School steel drum band and jazz band will take turns to provide entertainment beginning at 6 p.m. Friday and at noon Saturday.
The city's Recreation Department took over organizing the event in March when the previous backers bowed out, and the city changed the name to include more possibilities for exhibitors. Visitors this year will be able to view boats, all terrain vehicles, and cars in addition to home improvement products. Participants will be able to buy cooking supplies, jewelry, and food storage containers. Banks, real estate companies, and contractors also will be among the exhibitors scheduled to be at the show.
Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Mackinac County, the previous sponsor of the show, opted to put its fundraising efforts into a winter auction instead of the home show this year.
