Suzanne Dekker

Suzanne Dekker, 76, of Drummond Island, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.

She was born November 8, 1932, in Grand Rapids.

She was a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at War Memorial Hospital for 16 years.

Mrs. Dekker was a member of the Gazelles, War Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and for many years enjoyed bowling in the Midday Bowling League.

Mrs. Dekker is survived by two daughters and their families, Marcie and Ross DePlonty of Marquette, Claryce and Steve Herner of Drummond Island; a grandson, Ken Herner of Troy and Drummond Island; two sisters, Elizabeth Romkema of Grand Rapids, and Necia Musser of Kalamazoo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, who died in 1993, and her parents, Milton and Gladys Musser.

A gathering for family and friends took place at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home Thursday, April 9, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drummond Island Medical Center or Drummond Island Ambulance Corps.
