Mildred "Milly" Lamoreaux Mildred "Milly" Lamoreaux Mildred "Milly" D. Lamoreaux, 85, of Simmons Settlement, passed away at the home of her daughter, Karen Spencer, in Pickford Monday, April 20, 2009.

She was born February 11, 1924, in Republic, the daughter of Donald August and Hilma Dagmar (nee Hill) Augustson.

She grew up living in communities across the Upper Peninsula while her parents worked in logging camps.

She was graduated from Cedarville High School.

She married Gilbert Wayne Lamoreaux July 13, 1944, in Wayne County, just before he went overseas while serving in the United States Army. Upon his return, they made their home in Simmons Settlement.

Mrs. Lamoreaux helped operate the family farm and cared for their children while Mr. Lamoreaux worked at locations throughout Michigan.

She was a member of the Les Cheneaux Baptist Church and the North Hills Baptist Church, and taught Sunday school at Simmons Settlement while her children were growing up.

Mrs. Lamoreaux was an avid reader, and her favorite book was the Bible. She also enjoyed singing and playing her guitar, and the family spent many evenings singing together. She also liked vegetable and flower gardening.

Mrs. Lamoreaux is survived by three daughters and their families, Karen Spencer of Pickford, Elizabeth "Betsi" and Gerald Fowler of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and Wanda Lamoreaux of Portage; two sons and their families, Stephen and Tami Lamoreaux of Selma, California, and Floyd and Karen Lamoreaux of Simmons Settlement; 10 grandchildren and their families, Christopher Lamoreaux,

Steven Spencer, Ethan Lamoreaux, Matthew and Mandy Lamoreaux, Esther and Adam Hamer, Anna and Kyle Lansdell, Paul Fowler, Sarah and Scott Barr, Benjamin and Becky Perkins, and Jeremy and Monica Perkins; and 24 great-grandchildren, Chrystolyn, Samantha, and Skylar Lamoreaux, Chelsea, Kelsea, Kayla, and Dylan Spencer, Davin Smith, Seth and Ivy Lamoreaux, Noah and Naomi Hamer, Bayleigh, Madison, and Shiloh Lansdell, KeighArrah Fowler, Alexis, MacKenzie, and Cassidy Barr, Caleb, Destiny, Breanna, Alicia, and Alison Perkins. She is also survived by one brother and his family, Wesley and Delores Augustson of Rudyard.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Betty Black; two brothers, Wilfred and Rudy Augustson; and four grandsons, Joe Spencer, Jeff Spencer, Billy Spencer, and Jonathan Lamoreaux.

Services were Saturday, April 25, at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Visitation was from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with the funeral at 5 p.m. Burial will be the Simmons Cemetery in Marquette Township later this spring.
