Saints Junior High Girls, Boys Win Tri-Meet at Newberry

The St. Ignace Saints' girls and boys track teams finished first during a triangular meet at Newberry Tuesday, May 5.

The Saints girls scored 78 points to edge out host Newberry Indians, which finished with 76 points, followed by the Rudyard Bulldogs, with 18 points.

In the boys meet, the Saints scored 82 points, followed by Newberry with 63, and Rudyard, 24.

Saints girls: Sarah Cullip, first in 3200-meter run (12:49), first in pole vault (5'9"), second in the 1600-meter run; Brooklyn Chambers, first in 800-meter run (2:55), first in low hurdles (36.08); Rachel Hetherington, first in 70-meter dash (10.7), second in 400-meter run; Haillee Brown, first in 100- meter run (14.42); Autumn Huskey, first in long jump (12'0"); Kayla Ray, first in shot put (24'4.5"); Morgan LaVake, second in 100- and 200-meter dashes; Sophie Peters, second in high jump; Jacki Lee, second in shot put; Shelby Litzner, third in high hurdles, fourth in low hurdles; Emily Hinsman, third in high jump; Rebecca LaLonde, fourth in long jump.

The Saints finished first in the 400-meter relay (56.76), 1600- meter relay (5:16,) 3200-meter run (14:02), and finished second in the 800-meter relay event.

Saints boys: Joe Ostman, first in shot put (38'8.25"), second in low hurdles, third in high hurdles; Trevor Blair, first in 100 (13.51), second in shot put; Galloway Thurston, first in 200 (25.99); Richard Bentley, first in pole vault (8'9"); Parker Simmons, second in 100 and high jump, fourth in 200; Brennan Danielson, second in high hurdles, third in low hurdles, fourth in pole vault; Andrew Sjorgen, second in 3200; Kasey Bunker, second in 800; Bo LuHellier, third in 400;Spencer Crystal, third in shot put; Ben Damron, third in high jump; Travis Salter, third in long jump; Zach Harrington, fourth in high hurdles and shot put; Curtis St. Louis, fourth in high jump; Jacob Sjorgen, fourth in 400.

The Saints took first place in the 400-meter relay (53.46), 800- meter relay (1:51.00), 1600-meter relay (4:35), and second in the 3200-meter relay event.
