Vernon 'Micky' Lee

Vernon "Micky" Lee, 90, Gulliver, died June 27, 2009, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.

He was born August 21, 1918, in Bryon in Newton Township, to Neil and Gertrude (nee Moe) Lee.

Mr. Lee attended Blaney Park Elementary School and Gould City School.

He married Dorothy Hastings in Manistique December 28, 1940.

He was self-employed and enjoyed working and facing the challenges of the day. Over the years, Mr. Lee was a cattle and horse buyer, a timber buyer, a builder, a woodworker, a lumberman, and he also bought and sold real estate. He also worked as a bus driver for the Manistique area schools for a number of years.

Mr. Lee was a great story teller, always enjoying a good laugh and the company of others. He also enjoyed trout fishing and hunting.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lee of Gulliver; three daughters and their families, Lois and David LaRose of Manistique; Jane and John Kopecky, and Sally and Don Hughson, all of Gulliver; eight grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; four great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son in 1942, and his brothers, Arnold "Junior" Lee, Quentin "Bob" Lee, Kenneth Lee, and Don Lee.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 30, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Services followed at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Jay Martin officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery at Manistique.
