Youth Boating Safety Courses To Begin in Les Cheneaux

Two-session boating safety courses will be offered at the Clark Township Fire Hall in Cedarville Thursday, July 9, and Friday, July 10, as well as Tuesday, August 4, and Wednesday, August 5. The classes are required to obtain a boating license. All classes will be given by Mackinac County Sheriff Deputy Tom Sherlund from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The courses are geared for children ages 12 to 16, but adults are welcome. Space is limited and those who plan to take the class must register by contacting John Griffin at 484-2022.

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a free, adult-sized life vest from the Les Cheneaux Islands Association, which is sponsoring the classes.
