Folks from near and far descended on Naubinway to enjoy the annual Fourth of July festivities, including the parade in the morning, fish fry, bake and book sales at the pavilion, and concluding with the fireworks, a bright and colorful display enjoyed by all.

The Engadine Class of 1999 saw many return to enjoy a few hours reminiscing and touring the school. Among the classmates returning were Steve Troyer, Brad Butkovich, Andy Livermore, Paul Kleeman, Mitch King, Lance Kerridge, Gretchen Zibart, Courtney Aldrich, Rose Whitmore, Greg Deyak, Ron Hins, Justin Germain, Travis Freeman, and Shawn Clark, along with their spouses and children. How quickly time flies.

Celebrating the holiday at the Jackson home on Borgstrom Road were Rene and John Jackson and Blair and Jay Jackson. Blair celebrated her 22nd birthday a little early, the actual date being July 27.

Hello to Mayna Bowman Austin and her husband, Bill, of Mount Pleasant, who spent time with Shoe and Darlene Shoemaker.

Ron and Jackie Weger traveled back home from Mississippi to attend a wedding reception, hosted by Denny and JoAnn Vowell, for their son, Brian, and his wife, Hillary, over the Fourth of July. Jackie and Ron are Brian's aunt and uncle.

Hello to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith, who are enjoying time around the campfire at their spot on Hiawatha Trail.

Visiting the area with family and friends were Ben Outwater and family, and Brandon Zibart at the home of his folks, Cheryl and Dewey Wilder.

Kim and Mike Kerridge enjoyed grandparenting time, as they were seen with their grandson.

Lights could recently be seen at almost every summer cabin and cottage from here to Naubinway.

The annual Curtis Fourth of July parade was well attended. One of the highlights was the St. Ignace Saints of Steel band, which had everyone cheering to the great sounds.

The southern gospel group, the Calvarymen, will be in concert Sunday, July 12, at 9 a.m. at the Naubinway Christian Fellowship Church.

Marilyn May and Mick and Coleen Hart spent the holiday with their folks, Bud and Mary Hart, and attended the wedding reception for Brian and Hillary Vowell. Brian's brother, Denny Vowell, was also in town.
