A new art display case and frame hanging system was donated and installed at the Les Cheneaux Community Library in Cedarville. About 20 people attended a presentation to announce the new equipment at the library Monday, July 27.

Members of the Les Cheneaux Area Artisans Cooperative, Friends of the Les Cheneaux Community Library, and private citizens received two grants of $1,130 and $859, for the display case and hanging system, respectively, from the Les Cheneaux Community Foundation to build, purchase, and install the displays.

The display case was built over the past several weeks by Les Cheneaux Community Schools shop instructor Gary Wellnitz and students Trent Pitko, 17, and Cody Grove, 17. The new wood and glass case is taller and narrower than the case previously used, and has adjustable shelving to better accommodate larger works of art. Both students will be seniors at Cedarville High School this fall.

A half-inch track was installed in the reading room and around the majority of the main library room at the top of the walls. The tracks will allow library staff to hang art more securely. Tracks in both rooms were installed by Jack Otstot.
