New Cross Tops Gros Cap Church

Steve Sayles and Don Smith set a new cross on top of the Gros Cap Church steeple Thursday, August 6. The church has been without a cross for almost two years, said Moran Township Supervisor Jim Durm. The old cross sat atop the steeple for nearly 30 years before it broke. Mr. Sayles was hired by the township to construct a new cross for the church last year. Edison Sault Electric allowed the use of one of its trucks to install the new eight-foot tall cross. The church is on Gros Cap Road, west of St. Ignace.
