Maryann Jean Hudson, 66, of Harrison, formerly an elementary school teacher in St. Ignace, died Sunday, August 9, 2009, at the Laurels of Mount Pleasant.

She was born June 19, 1943, in Owosso to John Rex and Ann Margaret (nee Halisek) Hudson.

She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Harrison High School and later earned her teaching degree from Central Michigan University. She held her first teaching job at a Harrison elementary school, teaching kindergarten. Many years later, Miss Hudson moved to St. Ignace to teach multiple grades within St. Ignace Area Schools until her retirement.

In her spare time, Miss Hudson enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by a brother and his family, John Gary and Vicki Hudson of Lansing; nieces and their families, Jennifer and Travis Hill of Petoskey, and Jessica Hudson of Lansing; a nephew, John Hudson Jr. of Harrison, and a special aunt, Bess Halisek of Harrison.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

No memorial services are scheduled at this time. She was buried in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Claire. Arrangements were made by Stocking Funeral Home of Harrison.
