Engadine-Gould City

By Julie Freeman 477-6959 • engadinenews@sbcglobal.net

Hello, everyone. Summer is here a little late, but as they say, better late than never.

Congratulations to a wonderful couple, Jack and Miz Salter, of Gould City, who celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary Tuesday, August 18. They were married at The Lady of Lourdes Church in Engadine in 1951 and have always lived in the Upper Peninsula. Miz grew up primarily in Rexton and Manistique, and Jack in Gould City. They’ve lived in Corrine and Gould City their entire marriage, with Jack retiring from Inland Steel, and Miz as the Gould City postmaster. They have three children, Gary and Brenda Salter of St. Ignace, Jackie and Al Miller of Corona, Arizona, and Dennis and Sherry Salter of Gould City. Their many grandchildren love them dearly; one grandson serves in the U.S. Air Force. They have two greatgrandchildren by grandson Jonathan and his wife, Sarah, who live in Seattle, Washington. Through their many years of marriage, they’ve traveled to Florida, South Carolina, Canada, and a few places below the Mackinac Bridge to visit family members. Jack and Miz have always been active in the community. Miz was a Girl Scout leader and school board member. Jack helped neighbors with home projects as a handyman.
