Ensign Fleet 31 of Les Cheneaux Completes Three-day Regatta
The Ensign Fleet 31 of Les Cheneaux completed its 2009 summer series with a three-day regatta Wednesday, July 29, through Friday, July 31, on Muskie Bay. The fleet sailed two races on all three days with eightto 10-knot winds out of the southwest.
Borealis, skippered by John Birkmeier, took the overall first place in the A fleet regatta, followed by Tecumseh, skippered by Dave Snyder in second overall, and Second Wind, skippered by Mark Birkmeier in third. Other boats to participate in the A fleet races included Beelzebub, skippered by Ron Spainhour, GiGi, skippered by Todd Soderlund, Instinct, skippered by Jonas Carpenter, AWOL, skippered by Chase Horsburg, Chether, skippered by Andy Bohn, Andrea E, skippered by Hans Ediger, and Wind Slipper, skippered by Dan Ratterman.
Foxy Lady, skippered by Steve LaBelle, took first overall in the B fleet regatta, followed by Starlight Express, skippered by Dick Knapp, in second, and Osprey, skippered by Pete Hesser, in third. Other B fleet boats in the regatta included Dragon Lady, skippered by Jack Edwards, Sunrunner, skippered by Fred Moore, Lil M, skippered by Leroy Pieri, White Loon, skippered by Doug Heuck, and Windstar, skippered by Ralph Duman.
Second Wind earned first for the summer series in A fleet with the completion of the regatta, followed by Borealis in second, and GiGi in third.
Starlight Express took first in the B fleet summer series, followed by Osprey in second, and Sunrunner in third.
