Nelsons Will Celebrate 70 Years of Marriage

Bob and Rose Nelson of St. Ignace and Tucson, Arizona, were married 70 years ago, August 19, 1939, at the Methodist Church parsonage in St. Ignace with Reuben and Georgetta Hunter as their attendants.

They owned the Four Star Motel in St. Ignace. Mr. Nelson was employed as a power plant operator for Edison Sault Electric in Sault Ste. Marie. He retired in 1976.

The Nelsons have three children. Two children and their families live in Michigan and Arizona, JoAnn and Jerry Brohl of Wyandotte, and James and Cynthia Nelson of Pinetop, Arizona. Their son, David Nelson, passed away. His wife, Kay, resides in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson have five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Family and friends will gather in honor of their 70th anniversary Saturday, August 22.
