Sorenson Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Family, Friends

At right: Duane and Dorothy Sorenson At right: Duane and Dorothy Sorenson Duane and Dorothy Sorenson of Springfield, Missouri, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married June 6, 1959, in Key West, Florida, where Mr. Sorenson was attending sonar school with the U.S. Navy.

They have three sons. Donny Sorenson lives in St. Ignace, Dale and Angela Sorenson reside in Clarksville, Tennessee, and Darren and Lindsey Sorenson live in Rochester. They have four grandchildren, Nikki and Alexandra Sorenson of Chicago, Kori Sorenson of Puyallup, Washington, and Derek Sorenson of Clarksville.

Their son, Dale and his wife, Angela, hosted a party June 6 in Battlefield, Missouri. The catered party was attended by 50 family and friends. As a gift, Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson received a 15-day cruise to Europe, touring seven countries.

After they returned from Europe, an open house took place in St. Ignace, hosted by their sons, Donny and Darren. Sixty-five friends and family members attended the open house at the Driftwood Restaurant. An uncle, Ed Camp from Glennie, and cousins from Oscoda were able to celebrate with Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson. They were treated to a night at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island from Donny, Darren and Lindsey, and Billie, Becky, and Chase Belonga.

Mr. Sorenson is a graduate of LaSalle High School and the son of Myron and Leone Sorenson of St. Ignace. Mrs. Sorenson grew up in Wisconsin and is the daughter of George Ford and Hazel Tenjum. She came to St. Ignace in January 1958 to live with her brother, Pastor Charles Ford, who was at the Assembly of God Church. She is also a graduate of LaSalle High School.
