St. Ignace
There are just a few more days to prepare for the Mackinac Bridge Walk, and what a crowd there will be. I have memories with family and had walked in the 1960s with Gayle (nee Closs) Huskey and Joan Tarnutzer waiting at the finish line for our certificate.
Thursday, August 27, the was annual Mackinac Straits Hospital golf tournament at Grand Hotel’s Woods course. Proceeds support the Mackinac Island Medical Center and the Moses Dialysis Unit at Mackinac Straits Hospital.
It’s about that time of year for horses to be transported from Mackinac Island to their winter homes.
Hay pellets are being made. Each one holds 28 to 30 bales, a ton, and is three by eight feet.
Rosalie Robinson is happy to announce the Red Hat Society will have a dinner meeting Wednesday, September 9, at 6 p.m. at the Village Inn restaurant. New members are always welcome to join. For more information, call Rosalie at 643-9676.

Kris Bellows and Roger King of Hulbert were united in marriage Saturday, August 22, at First Baptist Church in Strongs. The reception was held at American Legion Post 393 in Hulbert, where many folks from far and near joined them for dinner and dancing.
Birthday wishes September 11 to my brother-in-law, Joe Decker, and nephew, Henry Dean Smith.
It’s good to see Gladys Pomeroy out and about town.
Joyce Belonga reports that Super Saturday will take place Saturday, September 26, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Little Bear East Arena. This day is better known as “Family Celebration Day,” where families, friends, and oraganizers spend time planning ahead activities for children of all ages.
Happy birthday September 4 to Judy Fenlon and her twin brother, Jerry Fenlon. Happy birthday also to Mandy Scott September 4.
It was good talking with Bobby Lee. He is happy to be working with his brother, Timmy, and family on West US-2.
The last Farmers Market for the season will be Saturday, October 3. This is the same date St. Ignace will hold Bayside Festival, Autumn Apple Days, and the annual pumpkin roll. There also will be music.
