Alida ‘Lia’ Goll

Alida ‘Lia’ Goll Alida ‘Lia’ Goll Alida “Lia” Goll, 87, of St. Ignace, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Northeast Florida Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.

She was born in the Netherlands September 29, 1922, to Antonius and Jacoba Boeren- Briels.

She married Lou Wouters in July 1948, and together they emigrated to the United States in November of that year. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States June 7, 1954, one of the proudest days of her life.

She was widowed in 1956.

She later married Jack Goll. They moved to St. Ignace in 1975, when Mr. Goll accepted the position of city manager.

Mrs. Goll was an active member of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish for many years. She was involved with the St. Ann Altar Society, sang in the choir, was a Eucharistic Minister, and taught religion. She was also a volunteer for Red Cross and hospice.

Mrs. Goll is survived by three children and their families, Libby and Michael Otis of Lansing, Ted and Lindsay Goll of Houghton Lake, and Carol Lanfri of Jacksonville, Florida, as well as her youngest brother and his family, Ton and Ina Boeren of den Bosch, Netherlands, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Goll was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Goll, in 1978 and a son, Rick Goll, in 1999.

Services will be Friday, September 11, at 10 a.m., followed by a luncheon at St. Ignatius Loyola Church and internment at St. Ignatius cemetery.
