Rudyard Bulldogs Win Shootout Over St. Basil 36-30

Davin Salo Rudyard Davin Salo Rudyard Senior quarterback Davin Salo completed 17 of 28 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns to lift the Rudyard Bulldogs to a 36-30 non-league win over St. Basil of Ontario Saturday, August 29.

The weather played a factor as the running game was restricted owing to steady rain, but the passing made the difference in the shootout win.

Arik Hesselink caught eight passes that included touchdown receptions of 10 and 30 yards, and the senior blocked the Saints punt and returned the ball 34 yards for the score.

Scott Coffey added a 20-yard scoring pass and Zac Dempsey returned the St. Basil kickoff 85 yards to round out the scoring for the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs defensive statistics: Scott Coffey, eight tackles, one interception; Tyler Wilson, seven tackles; Ben Harter, five tackles, one fumble recovery; Ben Gable, one rumble recovery; Davin Salo, one interception.

Rudyard will travel to Hillman to face the Tigers in a non-league contest Friday, September 4.
