Saints Girls, Bulldogs Boys Second at Newberry

The St. Ignace girls and the Rudyard boys finished second during the Tiffany Thorp Newberry Cross Country Invitational Saturday, August 29.

Saints girls statistics: Nicole Elmblad, second in 21:58; Chelsea Swope, fourth in 23:36; Kristen Olsen, sixth in 24:43; Samantha Radecki, 17th in 29:34, and Heather Beaudoin, 19th in 29:44.

Saints boys statistics: Ben Paul, eighth in 20:01; Joe Snowaert, 17th in 23:35; Eric Lenoir, 19th in 24:08; Raleigh Harrington, 20th in 24:31.

Bulldogs boys statistics: David Jarvie, fourth in 18:25; Drew Otten, fifth in 18:42; T.J. Rice, sixth in 19:20; Jacob McDonoff, 11th in 20:36; Charlie Schwesinger 12th in 20:44; Trevor Wallace, 13th in 20:53, and Jacob Mitchell, 16th in 22:49.

Bulldogs girls statistics: Leah Jarvie fifth in 23:55; Crystal Brownlee, ninth in 25:46; Samantha Raffaele, 11th in 26:45; Emily Hoolsema, 12th in 26:54; Megan Berkompas, 13th in 26:58; Carrie Berkompas, 18th in 29:36.

The Munising Mustangs won the girls and boys team events with Abbey Kelto, one of the top girls cross country runners in the entire Upper Peninsula, winning with a time of 20:35. Mustangs teammate Jacob Mahoski placed first in the boys class with a time of 17:08.

Saints junior varsity results: Kasey Bunker in 27:59 and Devan Harju in 34:45.
