Engadine Consolidated Schools

HOME OF THE EAGLES•KNOWLEDGE LETS YOU SOAR
by Angie McArthur Superintendent

Welcome back to students and staff. Please watch for students as they walk to school or wait for the bus. Remember to stop for buses when the red lights are illuminated.

Engadine Consolidated Schools teachers worked several days this summer on a voluntary basis. We spent a few days working on curriculum alignment and school improvement plans. Several employees and volunteers painted stripes in the elementary building. It looks great.

Students in grades three through 12 have received a planner for the school year, and parents are asked to encourage them to make use of the planner to aid in organization and responsibility. Parents are asked to initial the planner each night. It is a good way to communicate with the teacher. Parents may also call or e-mail teachers with questions. Remember to use ParentConnect (on the schools Web site) to check your students grades, attendance, and discipline records. If you need assistance with ParentConnect, call Lesa Baker at 477-6449.

This year we are implementing a positive points discipline system. Every three weeks, students with fewer than three points from tardies or disciplinary infractions will be rewarded to recognize their positive behavior. The system has two purposes: 1) to encourage students to monitor their own behavior; and 2) to reward those students who are meeting behavioral expectations. If you have questions about the points system, give me a call.

Please join us Monday, September 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for an open house for grades kindergarten through 12. Classrooms will be open. We would love to see you at school.
