At the Rudyard pool, swimming classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., beginning Tuesday, October 20, and continuing through Thursday, November 19. Cost for swim instructions are $45 for Levels 1-3 and $35 for Aqua Tots. Registration is required and can be done by calling the Rudyard CCSS office at (906) 478-7605.

Public swimming is also still available Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Water exercises are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Those who like to walk for exercise can walk the halls at Rudyard high and middle schools from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

For children in second, third, fourth, and fifth grades, flag football is offered beginning immediately after school, at approximately 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday, September 14, at the Rudyard High School football field. If you can’t make this one, there also will be three other days available, Monday, September 21, Monday, September 28, and Monday, October 5. The Rudyard varsity football staff and team will instruct children on the basics of the game, team play, and sportsmanship. This activity will be outdoors; dress accordingly. No registration is necessary; the program costs $12. A Tshirt is included in the fee.

To pursue tree planting grants in the township, Kinross Charter Township would like to establish an advisory group for a sustainable urban forestry program, and people who would like to serve are welcome. If you have a background in urban forestry, natural resources, or urban planning, you may submit a letter of interest to serve with this group. Members will be helping in establishing a tree/landscaping ordinance for the township, developing a tree inventory for the township, and working on a forestry management plan.
