William and Joanne Tamlyn on their wedding day in 1959 (left) and on their front steps in 2009. (Tamlyn family photographs) William “Bill” Bernard and Joanne Helen (nee LaVake) Tamlyn of St. Ignace will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, September 19.

They were married September 19, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in St. Ignace. The bride’s aunt, Opal Lee, and the late Norman “Chick” Tamlyn served as attendants.

The couple has three children. Two children and their families reside in St. Ignace, Patina and Robert Massaway, and William “Billy” Tamlyn, Jr. Their daughter, Tina Marie Tamlyn, passed away in 1960.

Mr. and Mrs. Tamlyn have three grandchildren, Robert Massaway, Kimberly Massaway, and Sharman Colegrove.

In honor of their 50th anniversary, family and friends will gather Saturday, September 19, at the couple’s home on Gros Cap Road.
