Freshman Sarah Cullip Wins Sault Cross Country Invitational

Sarah Cullip St. Ignace Sarah Cullip St. Ignace LaSalle freshman Sarah Cullip posted her first individual varsity title with a time of 21:17 during the Pro Sports Cross Country Invitational at Lynn Trails in Sault Ste. Marie Thursday, September 3.

Cullip's time was 30 seconds faster than the second place time of 21:43 by Brenna Moher of Sault Ste. Marie.

"My goal for this season was get my time in the 21:00 category and I felt good about my effort," said Cullip.

The Saints didn't have a full number (five) of runners for team scoring, but the girls finished third in their respective divisions.

Chelsea Swope finished sixth with a time of 25:13, Kristen Olsen 15th in 26:28, and Heather Beaudoin 22nd in 29:12.

Ben Paul was the top boys performer for St. Ignace with a seventh place finish in 19:59; Kasey Bunker was 14th in 21:48, Eric Lenoir 21st in 22:59, and Joe Snowaert 26th in 24:56.

The host Blue Devils won the girls event with 38 points, while Newberry finished second with 74, St. Ignace 77, and Pickford 84. The Sault boys placed first with 29 points, followed by Newberry with 66, St. Ignace 104, and Pickford 122.
