Ninety-four Golfers Participate in 7th Saints’ Hoops Golf Tourney

Ninety-four golfers participated in the seventh annual St. Ignace Saints Hoops Scramble Golf Tournament Saturday, August 29, and Sunday August 30.

Saturday Results (from competition at the Mackinaw Club): Joe Visnaw, Jo Jo Visnaw, and Tom Coveyou won the championship flight after carding an 18-hole score of 63. The team of Craig Hepker, Eric Hepker, and Steve Creter scored 68 for second place.

Matt and Pam Mortensen and Brian Olsen won the first flight over the group of Paul T. Davis, Brad Silet, and Rick Boston, after both teams scored 69’s.

Chum Frazier, Rich Frazier, and Gene Massey finished first in the second flight over the team of Steve and Justin Johnson and Dave Sage with 71's.

The threesome of Becky Leisenring, Darci Griebel, and Chris Wilson won the third flight with a score of 78.

Special Events: Chris Wilson won the women's longest drive and Jim Cauzillo and Dan Spencer the men's longest drive. Craig Hepker and Becky Leisenring were closest to the pin with tee shots, and Justin Johnson was closest to the pin with second shot.

Sunday Results (from competition at the St. Ignace Golf Club): The threesome of Joe Visnaw, Jo Jo Visnaw, and Tom Coveyou made it a clean sweep in the championship flight with the win at St. Ignace after carding a score of 62. Ed Lester, Mort Becker, and Eddie Lester placed second with 63.

The team of Jack Ingalls, Doug Ingalls, and Bob Brandstrom won the first flight with 67. The group of Barry Pierson, Charlie Brown, and Bruce Laing finished second with 68.

Jim Mattson, Dan Spencer, and Tom Alkire won the second flight. The team of Jane Perry, Ruth Visnaw, and Cindy Brown took second after both teams shot 74's.

Special Events: Craig Hepker won the men's longest drive; Nicole Brown women's longest drive. Doug Ingalls was closest to the pin, Ed Lester was closest to the pin with second shot, and Scott Clement had the longest putt.
