Rudyard Bulldogs 2-0 After 43-14 Win Over Hillman Tigers

Scott Coffey Rudyard Scott Coffey Rudyard Rudyard exploded for 508 offensive yards during the Bulldogs 43-14 non-conference road win over the Hillman Tigers Thursday, September 3.

The Bulldogs rushed for 264 yards and passed for 244 yards in the win over the Tigers.

"I was pleased with our improvement from the first game," said Bulldogs Coach Pat Maloney. "We made some adjustments at halftime and shut down their offense and scored two second-half touchdowns."

Davin Salo and Scott Coffey hooked up on a 33-yard scoring pass and Ben Gable kicked the extra point for a 7-0 Rudyard lead, but Hillman scored on the ensuing kickoff from 102 yards to quickly cut the Bulldogs lead to 7-6.

Gable scored from one yard out and added the two-point conversion and Salo and Coffey scored on a 23-yard touchdown pass to increase the Rudyard lead to 21-6 before the Tigers cut the Bulldogs lead to 21-14 at halftime with a score and twopoint conversion.

Ron Coffey Rudyard Ron Coffey Rudyard Jared Clark added a thirdquarter score and Gable notched the two-point conversion in the third quarter. Salo and Coffey combined on their third touchdown from 35 yards out. Zac Dempsey rambled in from 33 yards out, and Clark added the two-point conversion to round out the offense for the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs offensive statistics: Davin Salo, 13 of 21 passing for 244 yards, two carries for 12 yards; Scott Coffey, six receptions for 116 yards; Zac Dempsey, five carries for 115 yards; Arik Hesselink, five receptions for 92 yards; Ben Bable, 16 carries for 89 yards; Jared Clark, 11 carries for 48 yards.

Bulldogs defensive statistics: Ron Coffey, 13 tackles; Zac Dempsey, five tackles, one interception; Ben Gable, four tackles one sack; Scott Coffey, four tackles; Mike Dempsey and Ben Harter, three tackles, one sack.

Rudyard will travel to Pickford to battle the Panthers Friday, September 11.
