It was a victorious weekend for the Rudyard varsity football team as they beat rival Pickford Panthers in a 49-16 win. The game was great to see as both communities came together to enjoy the evening. But it also might have been the tailgate party in the parking lot ahead of time that got the Rudyard fans going. Approximately 30 people showed up before the game to enjoy Friday night’s match-up. Everyone brought a plate to pass and the party was enjoyed by all who attended.

Saturday, September 12, Chris Weidman, formerly of Rudyard, married Melissa France of Sault Ste. Marie. They exchanged vows at 2 p.m. and a reception followed at the Kinross Township Hall. Parents are Cathy and Leon Weidman of Rudyard and Cathy and Jim France of Sault Ste. Marie.

Jimmy Spencer of Kinross, the owner of the Jack Pine Bar and Grill, retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections after working there for 25 years. Thursday, August 27, was his last day of work. Jimmy started working with the corrections department in 1984. A party was held Friday, August 28, where friends and family celebrated his retirement.
