Coal Dock Project Continues

Owned by Ferry Line for More Than 100 Years...

Deep in concentration, Paul Engle of Winberg Masonry in St. Ignace makes swinging a 25-pound sledge hammer seem easy as he pounds an 18-inch rod into one of the planks to help secure a portion of the deck’s substructure Friday, August 28. The Mackinac Island Coal Dock has been owned by Arnold Transit Company for more than 100 years. Renovation work is expected to be completed in 2010, when the company plans to move all of its freight operations to the dock.
