No One Injured in Cedarville Blaze

No one was injured but the building was beyond salvage when a fire broke out at McMaken Carpentry in Cedarville Sunday, September 6, about 5 p.m.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and no foul play is suspected, said firefighter Mike Kasper of the Clark Township volunteer fire department. The Clark Township and Pickford-Marquette Township Volunteer Fire Departments responded.

The building housed the contractor's offices in its upper level, while the lower level was a workshop and garage storage area. Mr. Kasper said firefighters were able to retrieve some of Mr. McMaken's construction equipment as well as file cabinets and records. The building was declared unsalvageable.

About 5:30 a.m. Monday, September 7, fire crews from Clark Township returned to the scene because the charred remains of the building reignited.
