Trojans Post MEFL Win Over Jets; Eagles Sting Hornets in Non-Conference

Cedarville trailed 20-6 on a road against North Central before posting a 43-20 come-frombehind win over the Jets Friday, September 11.
"We kept our composure and made adjustments on defense," said Trojans Coach Scott Barr. "I was happy with the way the team responded, especially on the road. The game will help us be a better overall team."
North Central took a 13-0 lead at the 8:29 mark of the first quarter before Zac McFarlane scored from 58 yards out to cut the Jets lead to 13-6.
The Jets scored early in the second quarter to increase their lead to 20-6 before McFarlane scored from the threeyard line at 6:46 of the second quarter. Ian Burton and Jeremy Sherlund combined on the 10- yard scoring pass and Burton completed the two-point conversion pass to Tyler Anderson to tie the score at 20 going into the half.
"The defensive changes we made at halftime paid off in the second half," said the Trojans coach.

Cedarville and DeTour have been part of a successful co-op program for the fifth season. The DeTour connection of Burton to Anderson hooked up for a 35-yard scoring pass and Matt Tiefenbach, another DeTour athlete, caught the two-point conversion pass to give the Trojans a 28-20 lead at the 10:48 mark of the third quarter.
McFarlane closed out the scoring for the Trojans on a 10-yard run in the third quarter and rambled in from 59 yards out in the final period. Sherlund caught the two-point conversion pass and Burton kicked the extra point for Cedarville.

Eagles Sting Hornets 29-6
in Non-League Contest
Senior Phillip Hood tallied 318 yards of offense to lead the Engadine Eagles to a 29-6 non- league win over the Pellston Hornets Friday, September 11.
"Phillip Hood is one of the best players I have seen and coached against," said Hornets Coach Dave Brines. "You try to contain him, but he can hurt you in so many ways."

Hood scored touchdowns on passing, running, a fumble recovery, and interception for the Eagles.
"I was pleased with our overall play, but especially the play of our younger players," said Eagles Coach Lester Livermore. "Everyone contributed on defense and that will be a key to our success for the remainder of the season. Phillip Hood had a standout game, but that is what we expect of him."
The Eagles, 2-1 on the season, held a 14-0 halftime lead after Hood and Jeff Dishaw connected on a 25- yard scoring pass and Michael Klobucher kicked the extra point. Using the hook and ladder play for the second touchdown, David Fowell completed the eight-yard pass to Klobucher and the senior handed the ball to Hood, who dashed the remaining 38 yards for the touchdown. Klobucher kicked the extra point for a 14-0 halftime advantage.
Hood added to his personal statistics with a 50-yard fumble recovery for touchdown and a 21-0 lead after Klobucher kicked the extra point.
Pellston answered early in the fourth quarter on a Sam McMurray 43-yard touchdown and Hood closed out the scoring for the Eagles with a 29- yard interception run, and added the two-point conversion.
