The weather is nice, even though there are signs of autumn on the trees. The small amount of rain we received wasn't enough to help with our dry spell.

The Gould City Eagles Aerie 4483 will have an Autumn Fest Saturday, September 26, at 3 p.m. The meal is $2 for members and $4 for non-members. They're open to the public and everyone is welcome.

Ed Stielstra will present an Iditarod Odyssey 2009 Friday, September 25, at 6 p.m. at the Erickson Center for the Arts in Curtis. There is no charge for admission.

The Engadine Farmers Market continues at the pavilion in Engadine Saturday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to noon. Produce, baked goods, and more will be available for purchase.

The first annual Midwest Sled Dog Symposium will be Saturday, September 26, at the Erickson Center for the Arts in Curtis. Sessions include purebred sled dogs, dog care on the trail, canine nutrition, tips, and tricks. Advance registration is $15 and $25 the day of the event. There is no charge for children younger than age 16. Registration begins at 7 p.m. For more information, call (906) 586- 9974.

Curtis Oktoberfest will be Saturday, September 26. Food, drinks, music, and vendors will be available. There is no charge for admission.

The Fiddler Jamboree will be Saturday evening, September 26, at the American Legion, featuring nonelectrical instruments. Everyone is welcome to play or just come and enjoy the music.

There will be a Harvest Festival and auction Saturday, September 26, at 5:30 p.m. at the Columbus Township Hall in McMillan. The McMillan United Methodist Church will sponsor a bake sale, auction, and food.

The Curtis Farmers Market will be Wednesday, September 30, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lion's Den on the corner of main street and Sa-Wa- Quato Street, and every Wednesday through October.
