Deanna Elizabeth Prout of Kincheloe died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at her home, in the company of her family.
She was born July 22, 1938, in Brevort Township to John and Marie (nee Frazier) Prout.
Ms. Prout was an artist, adventurer, nanny, and humanitarian, friends said. She was a champion of children and animals everywhere, and a dear friend to many. She loved movies, art, and music. She had a great sense of humor and lived by the words, “Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much.”
Ms. Prout is survived by a brother, Charles “Richard” Prout; a sister, Theresa McIntyre; a daughter, Christina Rose M. Pixley; four stepchildren, Jay Kalisek, Judy Kocjan, Jeffery Kalisek, and Joseph Kalisek, and numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, George “Jack” Prout, Eugene Prout, Jim Prout, and Donald “Joe” Prout, and five sisters, Beatrice Russell, Madonna Kreger, Yvonne Leota, Sue Branstetter, and Melva Miron.
Services will be Saturday, September 26, at 6 p.m. at the Niigaanagiizhik Ceremonial Building in Sault Ste. Marie.
Memorials may be directed to the local animal shelter.
Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
