Navy Seaman Apprentice Timothy Switzer, Jr., son of Michelle and Tim Switzer of Sault Ste. Marie, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.

He is a 2009 graduate of Rudyard High School of Rudyard.

During the eight-week program, Seaman Switzer completed training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
