Engadine Consolidated Schools
Last Thursday, at the recommendation of law enforcement, Engadine Consolidated Schools went into a lockdown. There was concern that an incident outside of the building might impact our students. I am appreciative of the teamwork of our area law enforcement in protecting our students and staff. Officers from the state police post, the Mackinac County Sheriff’s department, and Department of Natural Resources officers were around the building. I am also impressed with the actions of our students and staff in response to the lockdown. They responded appropriately and followed our crisis plan.
State law requires the school to hold two lockdown drills, six fire drills, and two tornado drills each school year. We do this to ensure that students and staff know what to do in case of an emergency. If you have questions about the drill process, please give me a call.
Our positive behavior system is in full force. Students are getting used to the new schedule, and discipline incidents are low. I appreciate the comments that I’ve received from parents, and will continue to fine-tune our new system.
Congratulations to the students of the week. Last week, Sophie Vaughn and Lauren Dennis were selected as students of the week in the elementary school. Jeff Winchester and Bobby Laverty were selected as in the secondary students of the week. Keep up the good work.
New this year is the Engadine Eagle Positive Postcard. Staff members complete a postcard when they observe a student in a positive light. Each week, the postcards are mailed home. This last week, 41 Eagle students were mailed a postcard. We appreciate the students’ positive behaviors.
Enjoy the fall weather!
