Wallace Frankovich

Wallace Frankovich Wallace Frankovich Wallace Theodore Frankovich, 85, of Goetzville, was a quarry worker for 41 years and a tree farmer for most of his life. Mr. Frankovich died Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Eaton Community Hospice in Charlotte.

He was born June 4, 1924, in Sault Ste. Marie, the son of Thomas and Victoria (nee Malkowski) Frankovich.

Mr. Frankovich grew up in Goetzville and was graduated from DeTour High School.

He married Margaret Tominac October 10, 1959, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Goetzville.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Drummond Island Dolomite Quarry for 41 years, retiring in 1987. For most of his life, Mr. Frankovich had a Christmas tree plantation, where he loved to work for countless hours planting, trimming, cutting, and selling the trees.

Mr. Frankovich enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters and their families, Kimberly and Neil Hanson of East Lansing, and Shelly Frankovich of Grand Rapids; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Collin Hanson. Also surviving are four brothers and their families, Edward and Shirley Frankovich of West Hills, California, Vernon and Beverly Frankovich of Goetzville, Donald and Diane Frankovich of St. Ignace, and Allan Frankovich of Gaylord.

Visitation was Sunday, September 20, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, September 21, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Goetzville.

Burial was in St. Stanislaus Cemetery next to the church.
