Hello, everyone. It's just the second week of October and the weather report is for colder weather this weekend. I'm not looking forward to winter, but there’s no stopping it.

Condolences to the family of Shelly Brow, 40, who passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 30. Please keep her family and many friends in your prayers during this difficult time.

The "Dig Pink" volleyball game is Thursday, October 8, at 6 p.m. at Engadine High School.

The 14th annual Harvest Moon Ball will be Saturday, October 10, at the Erickson Center in Curtis. Cocktails will be at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. The Nine Mile Smile Band will play all evening. For more information, call (906) 586-3700.

The local Girl Scouts are hosting Trunk or Treat Thursday, October 29, at the MBank parking lot in Newberry. All area children younger than age 10 are invited. For more information, call Mindy at (906) 293-3477 after 5 p.m.

The Engadine Naubinway Fire Department Auxiliary will have a pig roast Saturday, October 10, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Engadine Veterans Hall. The cost is by donation.

The Gould City Eagles Aerie 4483 will have its fifth anniversary of the aeries Saturday, October 10.

Happy birthday to Christine Ocko October 9, Louie Oberle October 10, Jennifer Bell October 11, Elmer Brown and Adriane Kovar October 14, and Allison Priskorn, Charlie Buckholz, and Dalton Zdebski October 15.
