Work To Begin on Mackinaw City Hot Dog Restaurant
Construction of a Mackinaw City restaurant designed to look like a hot dog in a bun will begin this fall, businessman Enzo Lieghio said. Construction was initially expected to begin earlier in the year, but the time taken to receive the necessary permits delayed work at the site of the old Total gas station at the corner of East Central Avenue and Nicolet Street.
Mr. Lieghio hopes have it completed by spring.
The site plan was approved March 19, but work on the restaurant would have resulted in its completion in the off-season, Mr. Lieghio said, so a later development date was decided upon.
The intention of the restaurant's design is to be "gimmicky," Mr. Lieghio said, and draw the eyes of drivers on nearby I-75. A name for the restaurant has not been determined, but he is open to suggestions.
