Helen Leach

Helen Leach Helen Leach Helen Inze Leach, 88, formerly of Hessel, worked as a cook for the Canadian Railroad. She was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians who enjoyed playing cribbage and softball, and making native crafts, embroidery, and quilting. Mrs. Leach died Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at Bay Bluffs Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs.

She was born April 18, 1921, in Cedarville to George Luther and Pearl Margaret (nee Chenier) Dutcher. She grew up in Cedarville.

She married William Robert Leach July 3, 1942, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Mrs. Leach is survived by her daughter and her family, Mel - vadean and Jim Warner of Goetz - ville; six grandchildren and their families, Cathy and Steve Mason, Jim and Cheryl Warner, Robert Warner, Jody and Joe Haggerty, Peter Joanisse, and Tammy Jo - anisse; seven great-grandchildren and their families, Eric Mason, Julie Mason, Brandon Warner, Justin Warner, Carl and Kari Warner, Joe Haggerty, and Jordan Haggerty; and one great-greatgrandson, Jacob Warner. Also surviving are three brothers and their families, Edwin Dutcher of Ced - arville, John Roy and Frances Dutcher of Hessel, and Francis Dutcher of Cedarville; and two sisters and their families, Dorothy and Richard Royer of Goetzville and Jean Haynes of Valparaiso, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Leach; her husband, William; three brothers, E. William “Bill” Dutcher, Charles Dutcher, and George “Jr.” Dutcher, and a sister, Doris Callaghan.

Services were Monday, October 5, at 11 a.m. at the Tribal Com - munity Center in Hessel. Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford assisted the family with arrangements.
