Volleyball Season

The Mackinac Island Lakers volleyball team is enjoying a successful season after posting a 4-1 record during the last five matches.

The Lakers swept Munising Baptist 25-6, 25-14, and 25-15 Tuesday, September 29, downed Ojibwa Charter 25-2, 25-9, and 25-14 Tuesday, September 24, fell to Posen 18-25, 22-25, and 10-25, Tuesday, September 22, and defeated Hannahville 25-11, 25- 18, and 25-19 Friday, September 18, and 25-22, 25-19, and 25-18 Saturday, September 19.

“The girls have played hard and worked together as a team,” said Lakers Coach Terri Armstrong.

Lakers To Host Invitational

The Mackinac Island Lakers will host the annual volleyball invitational Saturday, October 10.

Bays Down Eagles

in EUPC Showdown

The Brimley Bays defeated the Engadine Eagles in a four-game match 16-25, 25-15, 25-19, and 25- 19 to gain a share of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference lead with the Eagles Thursday, October 1.

"This was a big night for the Brimley volleyball program," said Bays Coach Rhonda Amble. "After dropping the first match, the team showed character in coming back to win four straight."

Elisa Hobbs Earns

All-Tourney Honors

Senior Elisa Hobbs of Engadine High School earned All- Tournament honors during the St. Ignace Invitational Saturday, September 26.

The Eagles finished 6-2 in pool play and were defeated by the eventual champions, the Cheboygan Chiefs. in the semifinals. Individual game scores were published in the October 1 issue of The St. Ignace News.

Leah Wallis was named to the all-tournament team at the St. Ignace Invitational, where the Bulldogs’ team effort was the key to their success. The Bulldogs advanced to the final four before falling to Sault Ste. Marie.
