Engadine-Gould City

Hello, everyone. As I'm writing this column Monday, October 12, the snow is falling.

The Friends of the Engadine Library group will meet Thursday, October 15, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at the Engadine Library. All interested persons are invited to attend.

There will be a Harvest Festival Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17, with autumn camping at the Lower Tahquamenon Falls State Park north of Newberry. There will be pumpkin carving, site decorating, costume contest, and trickor treating. For more information, phone (906) 492-3415.

There will be a "Stonecross" performance Saturday, October 17, at 7 p.m. at the Erickson Center for the Arts in Curtis. Susan O'Rourke and Zig Zeitler will perform original and traditional Irish, Celtic, and Americana music. Ticket donation is $10 at the door, to benefit the arts center.

The 39th Annual Elks Hoop Shoot Competition will be Saturday, October 24, at the J.L. DeCook Gymnasium in Newberry, with registration at 9:30 a.m. This event will be sponsored by the Newberry Elks Lodge. For more information, call Chris at (906) 293-8651 or Hondo at (906) 293-5851.
