Fallen Soldier Was Fulfilling Lifelong Goal

      The local soldier who lost his life in an enemy attack in Afghanistan last week was fulfilling his lifelong goal of serving in the U.S. military, his family members say. On Sunday, hundreds of friends, relatives, and northern Michigan veterans came together on a raw, windy afternoon to escort him home, as a show of respect for that service.

      The Clark Township Neighborhood Watch is teaming up with Arfstrom Pharmacy in Cedarville to collect and properly dispose of expired and unused prescription drugs. The goal behind the program is twofold: to protect unprescribed users from taking those drugs, and to discourage wouldbe thieves from entering homes.

Volunteers Tackle Projects Before the Snow Flies...
      Snowmobile clubs in the county are gearing up to ready trails for eager snowmobilers in the upcoming months. The Straits Area Snowmobile Club, Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club, and Big Mac Pack Snowmobile Club all have their own trails to prepare and maintain. Work is going on now on trails near St. Ignace and at the Carp River snowmobile bridge.
