Rollover Accident Claims Life of Indiana Man
One man was killed and two people were injured in a rollover traffic accident on H-33 north of Curtis in Portage Township Sunday, October 11, at 1:43 a.m.
A van was traveling northbound on H-33 when it ran off the right side of the roadway on a curve. The van overturned several times in the ditch and struck and snapped off a power line. The driver, Eric Johnson, 37, of Goshen, Indiana, was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants in the vehicle, Joanne Johnson and Craig Woolsey, both of Goshen, suffered serious injuries and were transported to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital and later transferred to Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey.
The investigation of the traffic crash continues. Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, police reported.
