Rutledge Is Alternate for Brevort Twp. Board
Brevort Township board members appointed Joan Rutledge as an alternate on the Board of Review during the Tuesday, October 6, board meeting. Board members also discussed the status of the wireless tower that will be constructed behind the township sewer building and the payment status of the new fire house.
Mrs. Rutledge will replace her husband, Burton, as an alternate while he recuperates from a stroke, Supervisor Ed Serwach said. Mr. Rutledge had a year and a half left in his term, and Mrs. Rutledge will serve the remainder.
The Board of Review listens to taxpayer protests of an the township's assessment on property and can change the assessment.
Mr. Serwach told the board $68,006 was paid to Whiskey River for recent construction work on the new fire house, including drywall, overhead doors, plumbing, and electrical work. The original cost of the fire house was $298,250, but it was expanded to $307,304 with the addition of items such as awnings and upgraded doors. To date, $261,640 has been paid, with $45,663 owed. Mr. Serwach said $29,000 will be held until the construction has been complete. The fire house, which is across the street from the community center on Church Street in Moran, is expected to be completed by the end of October.
Walter Walsh of Nodin Wifi injured his back, leading to the delay of the construction of a wireless tower behind the township sewer building, Mr. Serwach said during the meeting. Construction will resume upon Mr. Walsh's recovery, which Mr. Serwach hopes will be later in October. The towers will improve Nodi Wifi wireless Internet reception.
