Arthur Adam
Arthur Gordon Adam, 87, of Pickford, died Friday, October 9, 2009, in Merrillville, Indiana.
He was born January 5, 1922, in Marlette, Tuscola County, to Bruce Cody and Helen M. (nee Stitt) Adam.
Mr. Adam grew up in Marlette and married Lila Jean (nee Collins). He was a crop and dairy farmer in Marlette until the death of Lila in 1961. They reared three children, Ron, Gary, and Marilyn.
He married Myrtle (nee Huyck) Beacom in 1962 and became an insurance agent in Pickford, working with her in the D. Beacom & Sons Insurance agency until he retired in 1984.
The couple lived in Cedarville and Avon Park, Florida, for many of their retirement years.
After Myrtle's death in 2002, he married Verva Lawson McDonald in 2005.
Mr. Adam enjoyed photography, gardening, traveling, and working in his tool shop.
He was a member of the Pickford United Methodist Church, Gideons, Christian Temperance Union, Pickford Lions Club, and Avon Park Camp Meeting and Prime Timers in Avon Park.
He is survived by his wife, Verva (nee Lawson) McDonald- Adam of Pickford; two sons and their families, Ronald A. and Karen Adam of Davison and Gary L. and Prudy Adam of Fenton; a daughter and her family, Marilyn S. and Steve Huyck of Highland, Indiana; stepchildren and their families, Richard B. and Sharon Beacom of Pickford, Carolyn Beacom of Cedarville, William Irwin and Carol McDonald of Pickford, Linda and Jay Six of Greenwood, Indiana, and Cynthia and Dennis Panik of Dafter; grandchildren Michael Adam, Troy Adam, Suzanne and Nate Walton, David and Lori Conroy, Lisa and Jon Anderson, Kim and Tim Harpst, Taliaha and Kurt Koutz, Steven D. and Megan Huyck, Kristin and Phil Shriner, Brent and Helena Beacom, Brooke Beacom, David C. and Cathy Beacom III, Marc Beacom, Ashley and Steve Robinson, William Aaron and Jill McDonald, Jonathan McDonald, Curtis McDonald, Brian Mc-Donald, Charissa and Josh Stephens, Jeremiah and Julie Six, David Six, Timothy and Nicki Six, Michael and Cassie Panik, Christopher Panik, and Daniel Panik, and 31 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister and her family, Donna and Raymond Witmer of Brown City, and a brother and his family, Charles and Esther Adam of Elkhart, Indiana.
In addition to his first two wives, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Elaine Adam, a sister, Doris Adam, and a stepson, David C. Beacom, Jr.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 15, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford. Services will be Friday, October 16, at 11 a.m. at the Pickford United Methodist Church with visitation starting at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pickford United Methodist Church, Gideons, or Avon Park Camp Meeting Association.
Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township.
