Preserve Seeks Volunteers To Build New Trail Near Hessel
The Birge Nature Preserve seeks volunteers to continue construction of a new two-mile trail Monday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, October 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the preserve west of Hessel.
Volunteers will be clearing vegetation, branches, logs, and rocks from a pre-determined trail corridor. Volunteers will also build the first 100-foot section of the boardwalk.
Participants will meet along the shoulder of Point Brulee Road about one-half mile south of M- 134. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, sturdy boots, lunch, and hand tools.
