A reception is planned in St. Ignace Wednesday, October 21, at 10 a.m. for Colin Skinner, who is walking from New York to North Dakota to raise awareness about hospice care. The reception will be hosted by Vital Care Hospice at the Catholic Center on Spring Street. The public is welcome.

Dr. Skinner, whose walk is sponsored by the National Hospice Foundation, is also an author who has made five previous long-distance walks to aid hospice. He has donated his book, “Beyond the Setting Sun,” to be sold as a hospice fundraiser. He will visit St. Ignace and Sault Ste. Marie in the Eastern Upper Peninsula before heading west across the U.P. on his 12,000-mile trip.
